AMD Build

Seabas101

Hey guys

This is my first post and I was wondering if i could get some feedback on some components for the PC i plan on building.

I have been looking at Processors and the one that seems the be to "Bang for your Buck" is FX 8350

For GPU's I have been looking at a 7970 or a R9 270

Thanks guys

FX 8320 is the same as FX 8350 just is clocked lower and is cheaper. You can easily OC it to FX 8350 clock speeds or above.

I meant the 7870 but do you reckon the 7970? Im trying to make this cost effective as possible

Yeah i was looking at that, I might as well go for that CPU then :)

The two are not relate-able in any shape or form. A 7970 would completely destroy an R9 270. If you can find an R9 280X for a decent price, I'd go with that. Basically a 7970 GHz edition card. And as others said, go for the 8320 instead. If this is a strict budget build for gaming, you could get away with an FX 6300 and use the savings for the GPU.

FX 6300 + R9 280X + 128GB Toshiba Q Series Pro SSD seems like a winning combo for a budget gaming rig and nice all-rounder.  :)

Aw really, I might do that then :) And yes this is like a budget gaming PC

If you can't afford a 7970 or an R9 280X, then go with the 270X. I have one... really nice card for the price.

For 1K get this:

The 212 Evo doesn't fit in that case. I'd recommend getting the Antec One instead: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-case-one

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Thanks for pointing this out , you're right!

The power supply is a touch small. Consider something like Corsair CX600M.

500W is Plenty for this build , 500W can even run a 4670K+780Ti so i don't know what you are talking about.

All depends on the usage.

You may choose to ignore manufacturer's recommendations. You may scoff at pcpartpicker's 459W estimated wattage. I don't, it's that simple.

No it doesn't depends on the usage , even if you run furmark and prime95 24/7 ( Don't do that but oh well.) It won't draw more than 400W period. Watch this:

I don't get your point. The guy in the video himself suggests that a psu around 600W would be ideal. His test used a 195W TDP gpu and a 77W TDP cpu. (A 780 BTW has a TDP of 250W.)

The FX-6300 is 95W TDP and I believe the R9 280X is 250W TDP. Presumably the OP is going to oc this system so I would expect draw to be in low 400W range. At 85% efficiency that would put a 500W unit right on the borderline. Even if the system drew in the high 300s, after a few years the psu is going to be challenged.
