Tips for surfing deep web?

Go to solution Solved by TopHatProductions115,

Get a no-logs encrypted VPN, an encrypted DNS server, and a Tails OS VM. Install the TailsOS vm to a USB key, and use a service like DNSCrypt or another alternative to encrypt any DNS. Use a VPN to mask the VM's internet communications (outside of DNS). Never expand the Tor browser window. Always check to make sure that your IP is not from your current location. Never turn on JavaScript. Don't install extensions unless you know what's in them. Never state that you use the dark web to strangers/people you don't know or trust. Never use your PayPal (or other connected services) on the Dark Web. Remain anonymous - no one can know your face. Never give out personal info. If it looks illegal, avoid it. If it looks suspicious, go somewhere else. If you think someone's onto your game, drop the connection and change to a different VPN config. Use SSH over VPN if you have to - just don't give out your IP. Change MAC addresses before browsing. Never use a profile pic. Never give the USB drive to friends. Encrypt the USB drive. Hide the USB drive. Never show it to friends - it's none of their business. Always use bridges when connecting. Never use the same VPN config twice in a row. Never go fullscreen. Never go to Google, YouTube, or Facebook. Clear cookies. Never save files to your PC hard drive (if not already removed). Turn brightness down all the way - let no one shoulder surf. Punch them if they get nosy.

What os should I use to get started? Tails or ubuntu? What precautions should I take?

1. Do you have a VPN?

2. Do you have the tor browser?

You need those two things before I can tell you anything else. Ask me if you need links to those things :)

Lol, ye I think so. From what I remember you don't really need a special OS to browse the deep web.

tell me if I'm wrong because I browse the deep web on a windows machine.

Don't drown.

Horrible jokes aside: do you mean the deep web or the dark web, since there's a big difference between the two.

A few more tips:

remove the hard drive so nothing gets written to it

keep the display window for Tor default

ALWAYS have javascript DISABLED

torrenting can be dangerous

If however you just want to innocently look around and not download or do anything illegal, even Windows would be fine (GNU/Linux is a better option though), just keep tor default display size, use a bridge, and disable javascript, custom fonts, etc.

It's my understanding that the "dark" web is where you can watch kids getting killed and sick shit like that.

So called "Red rooms" don't exist, although there is a lot of other bad stuff on the dark web.

Dark web is a portion of the internet that is only accessible using special web browsers. The deep web has websites not indexed by clear web search engines right?

Let me tell you one thing, if you are reading this, then you are exploring the surface part of the web. The websites, webpages and information that you find using web search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing (just... DON'T!!!!!), etc. are part of the surface web. Search engines use crawlers to index the web pages. So, the general public only uses the surface web.

The content that you cannot find using search engines is called the deep web. For example, If you search for something specific in the search engine it will give you many links and you will only find the content that you are looking for after clicking those links. Every website has its own search box. Thus the search engine’s search is limited to navigate the website. It won’t give you the links that are deep inside the website even if your search is specific. You have to go through different websites to find the particular link.

In simple terms, there are places in the web that cannot be accessed by search engines but can be accessed if you have an address.

The data that is purposefully hidden and cannot be reached by any standard web browser is called the dark web. The dark web is mostly used for illegal activities. The content inside the dark web (for example the Silk Road) is usually found using the Tor network.

The darknet is a different network that is encrypted and is created upon the existing internet. It can only be accessed by using some specific configuration of software.

Examples are Freenet, GNUnet, I2P, Tor etc.

If you don't know what to do to access the deep and dark webs and precautions to take initially then I suggest you don't try going there. If you can't find something that's obscured from the general public for a reason then who says you're able to cover your tracks properly?

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.
