Buying 7th gen Intel

More speed, More Cores, Newer Motherboards.

If you get 7th gen you are stuck on Z270 which has no further updates.  There is a chance 8th gen CPUs will work on the upcoming Z390.

Realistically, how many people will actually give a damn about Z390 if they already have a Z370 motherboard? Sounds like a pointless waste of money to buy a new motherboard just to be on the "bleeding edge", not like it will actually affect your system's performances in anything.
Or how many will actually go out and buy a newer CPU when they already have a CPU that performs just as well as the latest one, except maybe 5 to 10% less IPC which is barely even noticeable?

Saying a platform has "no further updates" is a flawed argument based around the crazy idea that everyone has a large amount of money to spare that they can throw into computer parts they don't actually need.

This is like recommending someone who is on a strict budget to buy a low end Pentium right now to then buy a better CPU later on, instead of just saving up for a few more weeks to buy the thing they actually want without pointlessly losing money buying shit hardware with next to no resell value, resulting in a much longer time of not having what they really wanted.

Just buy whatever fits your needs. If the 7th gen fits your budget better and you really couldn't give a f*** about the small increase in performances you'd get with an 8th gen CPU(that's more expensive), go for it.
