Little side port of graphics card not plugged in

Bunke

Is it ok that this little port isnt plugged in? Can it damage my hardware or limit my framerate in games? It has been working fine for over a year now and i just noticed this .

Thanks in advance

Hi Bunke,

I guess that answers pretty much your question but just to be totally sure check  on the manual/user guide to see if that is supposed to be plugged in or not.

That is not something you plug in actually. It's called a lock or something like that. The exact name is escaping me and googling "Yellow thing by GPU connector" is not providing any answers.

But still, It's supposed to hang out like that.

as i can't see any gold plated contacts on "the yellow part", there is nothing going on there. it's just some useless stuff

It's to stop a PCI-E device from being accidentally inserted into a PCI slot.

You can try and insert a PCI-E card into a PCI slot and see if that tab does indeed stop that from happening. Provided you have PCI slots of course.
