Thinking about which phone to buy

lewdicrous

So long story short, I  currently I have a galaxy s6 edge, but I was thinking about switching to an iphone instead.

I'm torn between the 7+ and the 8+; which is better of the two in your opinion?

Obviously the 8+ is better because it's newer. The cost plays a major factor here, what is the difference between the two in terms of price?

The Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco offcourse. (/s since you are specifically asking for apple products and the current Nokias had similar names. Good phones btw)

Obviously neither imo due to the lack of headphone jack.

The lack of a headphone jack is not an issue to me, I don't use headphones that much and the adapter will work just fine + I use Bluetooth audio when I drive so I don't need an aux cord

Don't know the price difference as of now; haven't looked around much and I still don't know if I'll get a new phone (if I found any) or a used phone

whats your budget?

im shure there is a good android one or oneplus phone out there. (just to have the same OS lifetime as Apple as that is one of their selling point. Samsung among some others suck at OS support)

Budget, carrier, features you need and want?

I don't have a fixed budget, I can save up if i need to but I don't like paying huge sums of money for a phone.. as i said earlier, I'm not sure if I'll get a new phone or a used one, so my budget will vary depending on what i end up settling for (type of phone, condition, etc)

No fixed carrier, I can change sim cards whenever I want (we don't have locked phones in my country.. as far as I know at least)

I'm an average phone user, I don't play games on my phone, I don't use hardware intensive apps; I mostly just use my phone for calls, texts and social media surfing

I kinda got bored of the Android os look and feel, that's why I'm thinking of buying an iphone

Switch android skin then. Thats the beaty of android. There are tons of flavors.

You might like stock android on the oneplus phones, Nokia phones or Google Pixels.

Then there is Oxygen OS which im not entirely shure what phones use that skin. Chinese phones often come with EMUI which is what im using atm.

You can try getting an Emui phone. Like the Huawei Mate 10 Pro/9 Pro (the 9 has headphone jack and is a bit older)

Or the p20 pro (regarded as one of the top 5 phones).

Like without a budget it is hard to say anything specific.

You might enjoy the OS support of Stock android that comes with The Nokias.

I had a s8 personally had bad experiences with it, the screen lifted up and after a new screen from samsung it lifted again and colours changed (lines) but finally got a refund/return

The pink lines issue (if that's what you're talking about) is pretty common, happened to my cousins s7 and it's happening to my s6..

If you can hold out until September, do that.  That's Apple's customary hardware refresh period, and you'll either get a newer iPhone that meets your needs or the existing device at a lower price (even if you have to go through carriers rather than Apple to buy it).  The current rumor has Apple's 'affordable' higher-end device carrying a 6.1-inch notched LCD and Face ID, just no dual cameras, OLED or wireless charging.

If you have to buy right now, though -- and it's okay if you do -- I'd go with an iPhone 8 Plus.  Just see if you can get a deal on it before you buy one.

The iPhone 7 Plus shouldn't actually be slow with iOS 12 (performance on older devices is one of its main features), but the truth is that you'd still be buying a roughly two-year-old design.  Think of a smartphone as an investment: you're not just buying it for the way it operates now, but the way it operates over the next two or three years.  And getting a newer model reduces the chances of feeling that twinge of regret when a new software feature requires hardware you don't have, or when your phone isn't quite fast enough.  You may spend extra now, but you may keep the phone for an extra year or two.

I'm not in a hurry, I just want to weigh in my options before my current phone dies or becomes unbearable to use

An iphone x [64gb] costs around $980

An iphone 8+ [256 gb] costs around $850

An iphone 7+ [256 gb] costs around $770

Note: The prices listed came from an online shopping site for a local hypermarket so they might be different if i buy them in person (instead of home delivery or reservations)

P.S. I tried Huawei, but it wasn't that interesting imo

That's what I'm looking for, longevity, I'm asking about the older phones because I don't know much about how long apple devices last (not really familiar with their products)

If the 7+ can last for a reasonable amount of time then great, if not, then I'll save up for the 8+ or an x.

I currently have enough money to buy the 7+ and 8+, but i still want to save up a bit more money so that I can survive after getting the phone.
