Got an AIO from a friend and I am pretty sure it's empty

I am doing some work on a friends machine he bought. It's pretty old. It's running a 6 core system on an X79 board, GTX580, 64GB RAM, etc. The CPU is being cooled by a Corsair H80. From my knowledge, the cooler has not been changed since it was installed, and I am assuming this cooler is dead. The fans work, but I there doesn't seem to be any vibration in the tubes or the pump. It's also making drippy noises when I move the radiator around. I am leaning on this AIO being toast and getting a new one, but I want to just confirm my suspicions. Noticed this was an issue when normal tasks would cause the CPU to overheat. Heatsink of the cooler was hot to the touch(obviously), but there was no heat coming from the fans. Hence why I am thinking there isn't any fluid movement.

Yeah, I would figure the pump is broken, which means a new one is definitely a thought to be in your mind.

Pump failure is the most common death for an AIO.

Even if the pump is dead you are probably fine by entering the UEFI/BIOS for like 30 seconds or so to check and verify the pump rpm. The worst case scenario: your system will shut off due to high temperatures. But normally, you should have enough time to verify the operation of the pump.

Also, just your fingers on the tubing or pump should be enough for you to feel if water is flowing through or not.

I checked the tubes and yeah there was no movement. I have an AIO on my own machine and you can feel the heat on the tubes as well as the flow so the pump is definitely a goner.

Well... then you know why you've received the AIO in the first place ;)
