Any Recommendations for Speakers?

Hi guys,

 

I am interested in buying speakers that are primarily for using at parties at home (mostly for music). Something with good bass. Budget: preferably less than $150

I would suggest a pair of the best bookshelf speakers you can afford and later add a powered subwoofer, even a pair of tower speakers aren't going to shake the room.  If you are looking for more of a mid-bass the Polk TSi-100's are excellent for the price, they are slightly veiled and sometimes the mid's don't mix well with bass but they are a good overall speaker.  I would pair them with a polk subwoofer as the klipsch acoustical sub I got for mine didn't mesh well so it's a second on my HT system.  The linked subwoofer would probably match well and give you the bass you're looking for.

I popped on some Sub-Focus which takes advantage of all kinds of bass and the result is it would make an excellent party speaker.

 

Now that I think about it, I might order that sub to see how well they match

You never mentioned what you're going to use to drive the speakers.

 

Also a follow up, I set up an equalizer on my desktop and I'm getting a kick out of these speakers, they are more enjoyable than they have ever been.
