Steam wont go online

I am typing this on the same pc that it wont work on so internet is fine and steam has been doing this since yesterday

Real talk, what have you tried so far? I mean, have you tried testing it on a different network to see if you can get into Steam?

 

That aside, Steam does also go down for maintenance on occasion.  It doesn't appear down right now, at least according to Steam status pages, for example this one:

Maybe try something like Wireshark and see if your login request is going out, make sure there's not a block at your router or somewhere in your network, make sure you haven't configured something on Windows Firewall, make sure your ISP isn't being a dick, etc.

 

Any other Aussies want to chime in and check Steam availability?  I'm on the other side of the planet unfortunately
