School Tech Porject, need to interview someone

MYX

Hey guys, I'm in this tech option in my school and need to interview an expert in the field I'm doing a project on. I'm doing my project on building, upgrading and servicing a computer. I need to ask 5 questions about this topic. So if you would like to help and answer a few/ all of them, I would be very grateful and your name would be published on my sub-par report, you'll be famous!

"Whats your experience in building, upgrading and servicing computers? "

"What are some tips for first time builders, or people getting into the hobby?"

"Whats your preferred way of cleaning a computer, what products do you use?"

"How did you get into pc's? What got you interested in computers?"

"What are some mistakes you see beginners and people who are not good with computers do?"

Thanks for the help, cheers.

Doubt it.

  1. 3 full builds, many teardowns/rebuilds.
  2. FTPM(s), watch how to guides, ignore Linus's fav thing to do (dropping stuff)
  3. I don't need to, not even with pets... For the Pentium days I would just take the board out and clean that way.
  4. Boredom, plus been around them my whole life.
  5. Coping Linus on many don'ts that he does(dropping, spending dumb amounts of money where not needed). Deleting/formatting stuff or other functions they have no clue about.

  1. I've built 2 PCs, both are for gaming. Fixed my mates' laptop from malware, and sometimes unbootable windows.
  2. Study your the chassis and motherboard and no need to rush, you can always watch build guides but every PC is different. For example, sometimes when you put your GPU first it's hard to put the RAM later, or maybe wiring. I usually start with the small parts first then move on to the big parts. Wiring can be the most frustrating part, but take your time. Some motherboard comes with a guide book that makes stuff easier, but some don't so if you're really a starter then it doesn't hurt to watch how to videos.
When watching build guides, don't always get carried away with their build, know your budget!

  3. I just use canned air in most cases and keep your distance, when dusting the fan I hold the fan blade so it doesn't spin.
  4. Well I just wanted a change, before I got into PC I used to build robots (line tracers and maze solvers). Besides I also wanted to change from console to PC so yeah I thought maybe I could build myself a gaming PC.
  5. I've seen some people violently put the CPU onto the motherboard, causing one of the pins to bent, not cool at all.... Also spending money on parts that's unnecessary (overkill) or making your build a bit unbalanced, for example buying 32GB of RAM out of the blue and causing you to get lower end parts on the rest because of your budget. Another problem I've seen some people did was putting the wrong part in the wrong slot, it sounds silly but if you really can't think straight when building a PC then it's always good to have a partner with you to give advice or just help you with your build.

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
