Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

They're about equal in terms of cooling and acoustics but I would get the FTW3 for EVGA's superior customer service.

The Potato Box:

AMD 5950X

EVGA K|NGP|N 3090

128GB 3600 CL16 RAM

The Scrapyard Warrior:

AMD 3950x

EVGA FTW3 2080Ti

64GB 3200 CL16 RAM

Get the Strix especially if you want to OC. The FTW3 has a flawed BIOS so power limit is caped at 117% even if you can set it to 127%.

You just need to update to the newest version of Precision X to fix that, it doesn't always unlock in Afterburner but if you use XOC to set the power limit to 127% it should transfer back over to other programs.

EDIT:

A lot of people also forget to switch to the 'Slave' BIOS that allows for the 127% limit and try to get that on the 'Master' one. I'm not saying you didn't but most people who cannot get the 127%  Power Limit haven't actually done what they need do to for that to be unlocked.

You also have a DT version and not a 'real' FTW3.

EVGA has international support, I would contact them and ask about your situation and see if they could work with you. I would also contact Asus for that matter and compare the responses to see if either of them could help you get support while you're away.

EVGA warranty program is leagues better than ASUS. Better peace of mind. Also with the rumors of a new GPU, the 'step up program' would be great to use.

No. That is not the problem. You can see the slider go to 127% in both Precision X and MSI Afterburner but it will still cap you at 117%, just check the EVGA forums.

There is a fix....It's a non-official fix from Kingpin.

I've been on the EVGA forums and most of the complaints I've seen end with 'woops, I guess I forgot to do that step'. Personally I haven't had any issues with my FTW3 nor have I had an issue on the other FTW3 cards I've worked with although I have heard that a few shipped with dual 'Master' BIOS by mistake (something that can be fixed by flashing the correct one onto the card).

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My understanding is that if you go through the official channels they'll send you the same BIOS files to use although I haven't had to do this personally so I cannot say for certain.
