True, and with any bankruptcy: the "regular" people are the last ones in line to reclaim their money... if there is anything left at all by the time all of the other creditors took their share.

and yes in any bankrupcy the consumers are nothing!

and if the bankrupcy comes out of no where, they are screwed.

I never paid close attention to NCIX because there are no stores here, I remember people posting how they had retail stores.

I am sure it happened, people had hundreds or a g-note or thousands on the card, but how long have they had the card.

Thats the SCAM with gift cards, you know that right. They hope you never spend it, losing the card or the like.

Well that's what happens when a company goes bankrupt, it's not just an issue with NCIX.

I just think the whole thing seemed very shady.  Not just for the customer but also for the staff.

So many people were trying to get refunds before they went under and were told they were put in a queue to be refunded.  There was probably no such queue, it was probably just lip service to keep us off their backs.  Not a single word or apology from the owner to all the customers who got shafted.  The website was left up with no notice of closure.

 

Whatever business venture Steve Wu decides to do next, I'm boycotting.

Of course, NCIX isn’t an exemption. Customers are the last ones in line to be able to reclaim their money.

The same goes for warranties if the company itself offered it. Two of my sister-in-laws has lazer hair removal with a "lifetime guarantee" (meaning if the hair came back they would do it again for free forever) through a company that ended up going bankrupt 2 years later so they're just SOL with their "guarantee" lol.

At least they had some sort of excuse for having refunds backed up. Fricken Canada Computers made me come back multiple times just to get a refund on a product they had no intention in restocking. And this is a company that is still well in business and in fact continuing to expand. Their back order system was so ass backwards that it is unrelated to the payment system. So what I effectively had was a product I paid in full, listed as not paid, and a payment that was just sitting there randomly.

Who had thousands on their advantage card... I just used whatever points I had on it whenever I made a new order.
