Tried Yahoo & Zoho, both want a mobile #...

Neither has Google. I mean they have but they don't need ii, just suggested for security and so google has your phone number

Phone numbers are normally asked only for 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) not for normal usage and initial sign up.

I'm with yahoo, zoho, google and hotmail, the only service that require phone is google and that's only because I also use it for my phone.

 

Is there anything changed recently?
