24" or 27" 2nd monitor?

asand1

I currently have a 27" 1080p 60Hz HP monitor. I want to pick up a 2nd 1080p 144Hz monitor for gaming and I wonder if I will be happy with 24", or if I should pick up a 27" one for the sake of symmetry? I would rather get higher quality at the expense of size. Thoughts? My goal is to be able to use discord and possibly watch streams I am participating in. I would also like to keep it under $300 as I also want to pick up an NZXT G12 and Kraken X51 at the same time.

I would pick the 27" one for the sake of symmetry.

Match it to the other on for symmetry. Also 27inch give some more space to have discord open and more usable screen space.

Screen space relates to pixels, not inches though.

They will both be 1080p, I'm more interseted in FPS. As I understand it a smaller screen at the same res will show objects as smaller. This would be perturbing.

Not to mention spatially it will be annoying. If you're transitioning from the top of the smaller monitor to the bigger monitor, the mouse will appear at the top of the bigger one rather than where you'd expect. I have this problem with my 27" 4K with my 27" 1440p. PPI aware transitions just isn't a thing yet.

It really depends on how far you are sitting away from the screen.

You want to be able to see your whole screen without having to move your head if you want check the sides of it.

To be honest, 2x 27 inch would look better, But since 27 inch is already so big, i do not think you can go wrong with 23 inch as second monitor either :)

Try LittleBigMouse. It adjusts mouse transitions based on PPI and your monitor positions.

I like my second 27" in portrait mode, it's really good for foobar2k or long documents and it's small enough to fit speakers nearby.
