The Rabbit R1 is cool but unfinished. Battery life is trash, it can't do a lot and modding it to run Android outside of its frontend isn't available. Its battery life is literally worse than my old phone (Samsung Galaxy A3 2015) which hasn't gotten a battery replacement ever.

The problem with the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin is, to me, pretty simple: generative AI is nowhere close to what it needs to be for these devices to work.

 

Right now, generative AI is frequently inaccurate, can't handle some tasks at all, and tends to be slow. What you want is Star Trek-level ability where it can do almost anything quickly and correctly. If I'm traveling to another city, it should book the hotel, the train ticket for the ride there, and the Uber I need to get to the train station... all without ever touching my phone. And it just can't do that right now.

 

Generative AI is advancing rapidly, but for now it's definitely not something to build a device around.

At the moment both Rabbit R1 and Humane Pin are borderline scams.

They're both products that work perfectly in edited infomercials but completely fail in practical use.

The fact you're even considering a wearable "AI" tool at this stage in its infancy is interesting in and of itself.
