Need to know your specific motherboard if you want a link, but the basics are as follows:

  1. Go to your motherboard vendor's website to their drivers and downloads section
  2. Select your specific motherboard model and hardware revision. If there are multiple hardware revisions make extra sure you have the correct one.
  3. Select the UEFI download and download it. Then you'll have two possibilities depending how your motherboard vendor's provides them.
  4. A) If it's a Windows program to run you need to run it inside Windows. If you use a different OS, you need to switch to Windows for the upgrade. Do *not* run it via Wine or in a VM. or B) if it's a bin file you need to put it on a flash drive formatted fat32 and reboot into UEFI and install it from there. C) Many vendor's supply both options so if they do pick the one that works best for you.
  5. Reboot, clear your CMOS and reset all your UEFI settings as you need them. This is to make sure that nothing gets messed up by the update.

I don't think you NEED to updatte the BIOS. What you do need to do is enable XMP.
