I was wondering if anyone has every ran both of these CPUs, or know much about them? I have been reading up on both of these. It looks like they are pretty comparable other than the $40 price difference and 4 Core vs 2 Core. I am looking at putting together a home PC for my kids and wife to use. Basically the only thing this PC will be used for is Microsoft Word, and Web Browsing. Both of the processors seem like they would be a good fit, but not sure what the major advantages and disadvantages of these two are.

Celeron, Pentium, i3, i5, i7, Xeon

That is the list from bad to good.

(or weak to strong depending on your POV)

i7 is better for gaming, Xeon is better for pro use.

Also, you're forgetting about the i9,

is the i9 out for retail sale yet? But yes, I had forgotten about it.

Also the Atom, which should be before the Celeron

If all you are doing is web browsing the  get the Pentium and invest in a solid state drive. The gains in speed with an ssd will be much more benificial than going from a Pentium to an i3. In all honesty the only reason to go for anything over the Pentium is if you need to multitask a lot and need to use more demanding programs. If it's just word and Google chrome then you should be fine.
