FPS cut

BetterThanTofu

I got a new 1920x1080 monitor for Christmas which is a big upgrade for my 1360x768 monitor. I tryed to play battlefield 4 on it and found that my average fps was cut in half. Is this normal? Could the FPS cut be caused by me trying to use both monitors at the same time (only using 1080p one for gaming though). I have a 7950 if that helps at all. I was getting around 75 but now get 30 :(

What settings are you running the game at. If you can show a screen shot.

Drivers for the 7950 up to the latest driver release.

it's normal to see a fps drop, but it shouldn't be more than halfed, i haven't tried bf4 myself but that should be playable on a 7950, probablt not ultra settings though you might want to set it on mid/high, it shouldn't be a problem for you to have a secondary screen running off the 7950 as long as that screen isn't used for gaming as you said.

something is amiss here, as the guy above said, drivers are usually the first thing to look at.

well like 75 you should get at 1080p with that card man .it wasn`t cut in half,there was a problem before too

You're rendering double the amount of pixels, so it's more than logical that your FPS is cut in half.

hd 7950 30 FPS in BF4 man ? and even if everything would be ok,you don`t get your fps cut in half.because at 720p the gpu usage is about half. it would have more fps but not that huge,at low res it becomes a cpu game

1360x768 = 1 MegaPixel

192x1080 = 2.1 MegaPixel

This is why you are halving your FPS. your GPU now has to render over twice the amount of total pixel (the second monitor wont be a factor).

your running an OC'd 8320 and thats just a down clocked 8350 so its not a CPU issue

Only thing you can do so solve it is bump settings down or change the GPU out for a better one.

I've been playing the game at High presets and I updated my drivers to 13-12 and no change.

Hope you enjoy that, I upgraded a few months ago from the same resolution, and can't go back. 1080p is beautiful! Although, if you are like me, you can still see a bunch of jaggies, way less, but still there. Happy holidays, happy gaming!
