Unknown monitor cable!?

So i have an old monitor i'd like to use to make my setup have 2 monitors but the power cable for the monitor was too short. So i found an old power cable that fits but its old (2013). Is it safe to use this cable. My main monitor is connected to my gpu(hdmi) and this one will be connected to my cpu(vga). Can a bad power cable send a power spike through the vga cable and fry my video out on my motherboard?

Thank you in advance

Edit

The power cable doesnt have a brand(dont know if they're meant too)

By power cable, you're meaning the Pentagon shaped ones or Clover leaf right?  It should be fine as long as it's not frayed or damaged in any way.

If you're meaning a power brick, you would have to check the voltage and amperage as well as the connector.  If it's a brick, I don't recommend it unless it's an exact match for the same monitor.
