This. I'm at 4.2GHz also. Depressing.

The highest i've gotten on both of my 3570k's is 4.4 :(

Some might get jealous that you reached 5.1 on that chip, i haven't tried 5.4 again, last time needed more voltage and i needed to run, so i'll try some other time, but i won't stop untill 5.5 :D

I can reach 5.3 if I want to crash after like 4 minutes. I can get a cpu-z of it but I haven't posted that because in my opinion it just doesn't count. I'll catch you in a month or two. I need to move my rig to a different case that supports watercooling and then I'm going to put a push/pull 360mm rad in there. I'm hoping for 5.4

This is not the idea, to be stable, you just need to hit the highest, and do a benchmark. Nobody is expecting a chip to run at 5.5 prime stable...

I guess, but for me in particular it's not just about the clcok. I want to be able to something with it which is why I don't push insane voltage through my chip

Im using a FX-8350 at 4.8Ghz running 1.475v but I cant make it break 5.0Ghz =(. Once I get past 4.9Ghz it becomes very unstable no matter what voltage I set it to. Although 1.475v is about where my cooler(Kraken x60 push/pull) is no longer able to keep temps reasonable.

I'm assuming your clock ratio is at around 24 then? The maximum temperatures that you should be getting for stability on that chip is around 61 or 62 degrees however the whip doesn't actually shut down until 90 degrees. There are also a tonnes of settings that help in keeping your system quiet on a lot of motherboards, especially ROG boards, turning these off might help you get more stability at higher clocks if you're willing to sacrifice things like noise and a little bit of heat
