With the PSU not being specified, I took the liberty to select a decent one. You can keep the cooler, SSD and case. Add storage as needed.

First off, 1440p on Ultra is quite taxing. At the very least you will need to upgrade to a GTX 1080, around $600. Secondly, 8GB of RAM is barely enough for 1440p at Ultra. Another 8GB is a must, around $100. And also, a better CPU than your 4460. A 4690K for $180-ish, 4790K for around $270-ish on eBay So everything will cost around $1150, assuming you already have a 1440p monitor for it.

Or like what @NelizMastr suggests.

Isnt Nvidia about to drop their new cards in the fall? I would definitely wait for now for GPU.. 970 will work until then surely?

A core i5 4-core is not enough for 1440p either. And the 4790K is bad value at that price point. It gets trumped in gaming by the 100 dollar cheaper i5-8400 so ditching the older hardware is in fact the cheapest here :)

yeah unfortunately the prices remain inflated because of the 1150 socket...

Which is to be expected. It's been out of production for over 3 years.

Well just don't want the OP to get a new motherboard and expensive AF DDR4 RAM :)

But he's spending the dough anyway while remaining on a dead platform. He'll have to splurge at some point ;)

Thank you all for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. I don't know the exact model of the power supply because I bought it 4 or 5 years ago, but it's modular and it's form NZXT. I would definetly need a new motherboard, the current one was around 80$ 5 years ago. I think I will go with the build suggested by NelizMastrhttps://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZkM78Y
