Which monitor should I buy?

Should I buy this, BenQ XL2411P , a 1080p 144hz TN monitor or this, BenQ BL2420PT, a 1440p 60hz IPS monitor?

I am leaning towards the BL because of the higher res and the IPS color. I know how to manually raise the refresh rate, but can I lower the res to 1080p and possibly squeeze out even more hz? (If so, how much?)

Also, will overclocking the monitor's refresh rate hurt image quality?

Lot's of questions for my first ever post so forgive me.

PS. Don't have fast enough reflex to actually use the 1ms response time.

What would you use the 144hz for? Gaming? If not, then get the 1440p screen, but if you are gaming, get the 144hz monitor.  Also, overclocking refresh rate doesn't affect image quality.

Try using the PSU Tier List!

some monitors can go up to 75hz by default by lowering resolution but sometimes they don't so you'll will need to overclock. Overclocking the refresh rate will not hurt the image quality but is not protected by the warranty so keep that in mind. Also, overclocking a monitor is like overclocking a CPU, you might get a better overclock than someone else or vice versa--depends on your luck and the silicon lottery.

I would go for the 1080p 144hz monitor for gaming but other than that, 1440 60hz will do fine for all other tasks. (I would go with the 144hz because of that silky smooth screen that I will never have the chance to experience :( *plays sad violin music*)

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Thanks for the super fast reply!

I do a lot of games, but I'm just not sure if the 144hz is worth it.

If you’re getting above 100 fps in most games, go for the 144hz Monitor however, if not, just get the 60hz Monitor
