Serious question - Do I send my SF600 back?

Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

That's just caulk to reduce vibration and coil whine. It is meant to be there. Quite common to find that in PSUs.

Corsair SF600 600W Disassembly clearly shows that it is supposed to be there.

So yesterday I ordered all parts for my newest build, a teenie tiny ITX computer with a Corsair SF600 (wanted a SF400 but there was no stock anywhere).

Arrived today and I noticed white goop on what I believe is a copper coil. I’m no PSU expert so I have no idea what goes into a PSU but none of my previous builds have ever had this so thought it best to ask you folks before I start powering a GTX 1080 through it.

Hopefully my photos show what I’m talking about. Ordered from Amazon so not much of an issue to order a replacement.

Thanks

Damn, thanks for letting me know and the link to disassembly. Extremely informative and quite an interesting read too!

So none of you guys have ever read a PSU review, never mind an SF600 review, with a proper tear down that shows that this white caulk is absolutely normal?!?!!

Consider me Godsmacked.
