What do I lose with 24” 1080p over 27” 1440p?

I’m looking to get a 144Hz or 165Hz monitor for less than $400. What do I lose with a 24” 1080p panel than with a 27” 1440p panel?

Better picture quality and screen size. 1080p is good for most people anyway.

In my opinion - for gaming, you gain FPS and or/achieve higher quality on a smaller 1080p screen compared to a larger 1440p. Unless you're actually quite far from the screen, a 24'' is more than enough, and 1080p is fine at 24''.

 

For productivity, I find 1080p to be way too small. For gaming, 4k is way too resource intensive. 1440p is a nice medium for both.

If you're ok with having two monitors of different size and resolution on your desk, go for the smaller 1080 for sure.
