I'd like to be able to play 1080p 120fps all games for 3 Years

Mostly multiplayer though

Should I buy an evga 1080sc for that or do I wait for the 1170/2070 

 

My specs:

2600x

16gb ram at 3000 mhz

A 1089 is more than enough, and they're very close to MSRP right now.

 

The 1170 will be next to impossible to grab for months after launch, then you have the possibility of the mining craze coming back because there are cards that are useful again. So no knowing how long before the 11 series is at MSRP.

I just recently ordered 2 1070ti's at MSRP from Nvidia......finally I was able to pick them up they were in stock for ~36 hours and that was the dealbreaker for me.

GTX 1080 is perfect for 1080p 144Hz monitors, was getting 120 to 180 fps on ultra in BF1.  Just got my EVGA 1080 SC last month and upgraded my monitor to a 1440p 75Hz and I'm loving it! I say get your GTX 1080 now, when the 1170/2070 launch it will be hard to get your hands on one of them.  Sometimes vendors will have good sales right before the launch of the next generation gpu's, but you will be limited to certain models that were less desirable.

11/20 series will probably just be a pascal refresh from what I've heard. If you're only wanting 1080p I'd just go with a 1050ti or a 1060, they're neat for 1080p. 1060 can handle 1440p in some instances too.

I'm new to streaming/I would like to stream on that. Pc 

Should I go for the 2700 or stick to the 2600x?

It's just a 60$ increase in price

Now, does that mean I can buy one in July? 

 

How was it last year can you give me a run down about the timeline of the 10 series

 When were they announced were they available soon after?

When were the AIB available?

You can buy one when they're made available to the public for sale.

They get announced during press conferences, and become available when the manufacturer decide they've held back the artificially timed release date after gathering enough hype so they can justify selling them well above MSRP due to "shortages" that happen way too quickly after launch.... mighty convenient.

 

Anyway, not trying to be snippy here; merely stating that we won't know until they're officially announced and put on sale by retailers, which I'd guess is probably going to be closer to late summer or even fall/winter.

from what i can see, the 1070 was announced around the 6th of may and got available for sale on the 10th of june. but remember, this is another card, so things can be different this time

Well the 1080 won't do 120fps ALL games for 3 years, so you're either ponying up for a 1080ti or wiating for an 1180. The 1170 likely won't be that much faster than a 1080, so I doubt that'll do it either. If current hardware is any indication, the 1070 is 2 years old and already struggled for 120fps in some games at 1080p high.

"All games" at 120FPS? That sounds like you mean games that benefit from high FPS with "All". Can you give some examples?

For streaming I'd go with the 2700. The extra cores will allow you to use x264 without having dropped frames if you tune the codec enough. Lower bitrate is required with x264 compared to NVENC for the same level of quality as well, which makes it less taxing on your internet connection.

 

Once you move to x264, you won't want to go back to NVENC.

I recommend the Dark Rock 4 over the H60. 120mm AIOs are a waste of money IMO unless you're making a hybrid GPU setup.
