It doesn't really matter which one you use. However I'd use port 0 for your boot drive just to keep things organized.

Thanks! its just iv been told before to use sata 3 which was a specific port but i guess not in my case.

That was back when motherboards had a mix of SATA 2 and SATA 3 -- since SATA 3 was still new technology.

ALL the ports are now SATA 3 -- you don't find SATA 2 on new boards.

All SATA ports are the same, and they're SATA 3 or SATA 6 gbps.

 

I'd like to add... keep in mind that often one of the SATA ports is also connected to the m.2 connector on motherboards, so if you install a cheaper M.2 drive that doesn't use pci-e lanes to transfer data, then one SATA port may be unusable.

Usually it says which port gets turned off in the motherboard manual.

so i have everything coneected to the PS except the peripherals Ps cable , is that cable also optional , if so what is it used for?
