So if the price was in US dollars it means he's spending way too much money for the setup.

If that was a real Chinese guy trying to get a PC over there the price could be less than 1000 USD - the video card is "Factory production", no quanlity assurance included so it must be cheaper than you think.

Seriously this price can get an all-new PC.

 

However, if it's CAD then Linus didn't being cheated too much. It's probably the normal price.

Prices for computer parts in China aren't really lower than anywhere else. Plus forget haggling if you're not Chinese, I learned that the hard way (though now my trick is to give them a reasonable price (not the best I know I could get but reasonable IMO) and when they don't go down, I laugh loudly and start walking, so far it worked every time!).

 

Accessories is another story though!
