gtx 1050 ti in an old sff?

Hi,

I just recently bought an old dell optiplex 790 with an I5 2400, and I am wondering if it is safe to put a 1050 ti low profile in it. The 1050 recommends to have a 300w psu, but my optiplex only has a 250w psu. Should I do it? Is it safe? Or is there a better option?

My buddy ran a 1050 ti and i3 2130 off of a 220w oem psu, no issues

I am running a 1050 of a 240 watt PSU with an i5 2500 in an HP Compaq elite 8200 SFF, and there are a ton of people running the 1050ti with a much more power hungry 3470 in the 8300 with the same PSU. With these business computers and LP cards you should be fine. Oh, and welcome to the LTT forums!

You'll be fine. It's not that old of a computer.
