Is the S8+ compatible with external GPU enclosures?

So I was looking through the specs sheet for the galaxy S8+ and saw that the port on it is actually Thunderbolt 3 compliant. Has anyone tried hooking up an external GPU to one to see what would happen? I realize that the CPU/APU will be a MASSIVE bottle neck but there are some emulators out there that let you force hardware rendering so would this help with that? Am I just some crazy guy who saw something on a spec sheet and is taking it to the extreme?

You're probably right. I was just curious if someone who could afford a GPU enclosure could do some testing a report back.

I've not heard anything about the Galaxy S8 (or any smartphone for that matter) having Thunderbolt. Even if they did, why would you need a dedicated external GPU for phone based activities anyways? The GPU alone (not to mention the enclosure) would dwarf the phone.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Do it, don’t know how you’d test it though

See if Linus can make a video about it (and not drop anything in the process). Also, where did you see that it was Thunderbolt 3 compatible. I think you are thinking about the ports physically fitting not the port having the bandwidth for thunderbolt 3.

Not sure if your response was intended to be sarcastic, but it sure came across as such.

Anywho, the specifications doesn't say Thunderbolt, just that it can do DisplayPort via USB-C.

thunderbolt is only supported on Intel chips btw....

so that's your answer. It wouldn't work, because you need an Intel cpu for thunderbolt.

I know intel has said they wanted to make it an open standard but that's yet to be seen.
