Just curious if anyone is aware of what the new ryzen chips will have, is there going to be a 2800x?

Probably not as the 2700X kinda already saturated the full potential of this new Ryzen+ silicon... personally speaking this was a good thing because the Ryzen 7 1800X always was a pointless "steal" of money when there was absolutely no difference between it and an overclocked 1700X that took 1 minute to accomplish... and yet 100$ for the bragging rights premium... meh I hate my 1800X... never touched it again after I got my i7 8700

Even if there is 2800X (I doubt), I agree with rumours that it will have more cores than 8. 2700X is already at the top of the clock speed limit of Ryzen, can't go higher than that. The power delivery on many mbos are also insanely overkill, so probably there is a higher core count variant? I guess AMD is also preparing for 8 core 9th gen CPUs from Intel.

Ya know, some benchmarks are done in default settings. AMD wouldnt want reviewers to use the 1700 and say 'Ryzen 7 is slower than i7 in all cases' at stock.

They'll probably release an R7 2800X if they make it hit 4.5ghz before Zen 3.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If there is an 2800X, I reckon it'll be a 10 core 20 thread cpu.

Also confirmed with the node shrink yet the die under the ihs being the same size as the first gen there is enough room for 10/20
