Found a good deal on a GTX 1060 3GB, but is it about to be obsolete?

Really? I haven't heard that, and this summer would more or less fall right in line with their usual release cycle. Plus the mass production of GDDR6 is a pretty good sign.

No, but you can compare it to the GTX 570 he's been using. As he said, he has to buy the whole system, not just part of it.

GDDR6 is just starting production, to be fully going in 3 months. Then Nvidia has to compete with everyone else wanting it, and provide that memory a home that wouldn't make them more money elsewhere. Why my money is on late fall, and GDDR6 only in the 80. Thoug it wouldn't totally surprize me if Nvidia waits until spring. They just don't have a reason to come out with a new card while the 10 series is printing money.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

But developers target the plebs due to their numbers don't they? I figured the new generation would also mean a new milestone in graphics but maybe I got it wrong.

Not at all, it's more a case of "consoles come closer to pc, devs turn on functions that were already available"

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

8GB RAM and 240Gb SSD no operating system though but w/e

nice deal, i would get that for sure, and probably will be solid. But remember

Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away

Do you think this rig will last me 2-3 years?

Run modern games at least at medium settings 60fps

It will but you're swapping a 4C/4T system with a decentish graphics card for a 4C/4T system with a decentish graphics card.

I know the 1060 has a lot more power than the 570, but personally I would wait it out. Otherwise buy the 1060 now and skip next gen

That's an F in the profile pic

at the very least 2 years, until games are really becoming more demanding
