Hey guys I'm looking to build a new rig for my little brother that can run most if not all modern games at 1080P can that be done for under $800 USD

Depending on your preferences you can keep the 120gb boot drive or take it out. Should give a rough idea of a latest i5 build. The 3gb 1060 will do ok for 1080p gaming. 

 

You might want to consider an APU build which Im sure someone who knows more will suggest.

any idea why pcpartpicker doesnt list any motherboard as compatible with i5 8400?
