VGA to HDMI convertor

I want to connect my trash laptop with VGA port to my WQHD HDMI port monitor via VGA to HDMI convertor.Am I gonna watch the movies with trash quality cuz of my trash laptop?I remember when I was used to connect my VGA laptop to some VGA monitor and the quality was absolutely the same..idk why ppl say that VGA sucks

VGA is analog so there is a loss of quality when converting to and from a digitial signal or when transmitted over long distances. You will further reduce your quality since your VGA output can't send a 1440p signal so you will end up with scaling on the monitor as well (meaning a lower resolution signal will be scaled up which looks awful). Are there any other outputs on your monitor?

That's only 1080p though, so the OP will have some noticeable scaling artifacts unfortunately, but it's the best one can do with VGA.

If you use a good quality adapter and cable you can output 1080p but not more. VGA is limited to that and no matter what you do might raise the max resolution

so you are telling me if I'm using a PC + monitor with 1920x1080 and I want to connect it to monitor with 9999999x999999999 resolution(HDMI port) via VGA to HDMI convertor,I will have max 1080p resolution,because it's the max support for VGA?

windows will not even let you select anything higher than 1080p. so whatever resolution your pc outputs, the monitor will try to display it. That is perfectly fine with 1080p monitor or lets say 4k where every 4 pixels are 1 pixel on 1080p. However, it doesnt scale that great with 1440p

Besides the fact that the newest hdmi 2.1 specification allows a max resolution of 7680x4320 you're right.
Every connection has a max resolution that it is limited to and VGA is lucky to even reach 1080p

VGA max resolution is 2048x1536 @ 85Hz. I'm pretty sure it can also do 1440p 60hz, at least it can do 2304x1440 @ 80Hz.

 

One of my 1080p monitors is connected via VGA (HDMI is broken) and I can't see any noticeable difference in picture quality compared to HDMI or DVI.

VGA doesn't have any defined limits, it just depends on the equipment.

 

DVI/HDMI/DP don't have any particular resolution limit either, just a maximum bandwidth.
