I have an I5 6400 currently. I want more cores and I want to get into overclocking, but I dont know if I should get a R5 1600x or something from coffee lake. Im a gamer but I would like to get into other things like Video Editing and maybe streaming. Thanks!

The best value Ryzen chip is the 1600, although that will likely change when the 2600 releases.

1600x = overclocked 1600 without the stock cooler.

What's your location and how big of a budget do you have?

It just depends on your budget, Ryzen is for those wanting to save money while coffee lake is for those who can afford it... that's pretty much it...

Ryzen 5 1600 and a b350 is perfectly capable combo.

I want to spend $200-$250 and $300 is the max I can do if I would really get my moneys worth at that price point. I live in the U.S.

I agree with @JDE, wait until Ryzen 2 launches. After that, you can probably get an R5 2600.
