Hey guys need help I'm stuck between the cpu and GPU choices.

Should I go for i7-8700k with GTX1060

Or

i5-8600k with GTX1070

Requirements for gaming and video editing

Rest of the specs:

MSI Z370-A Motherboard

16Gb Corsair vengeance 2400MHz Ddr4 ram

Corsair 650w 80+ rated psu

Acer - 23.6" Full HD Gaming Monitor

Also please do suggest a AIO cooler for the processor.

Follow the console rule. 3x more on gpu than cpu.

e.g. If you getting current gen $200 cpu, you can go right on ahead and get a 1080ti which is the limit for noticeable bottlnecking.

$100 current gen cpu qualifies you for a gtx 1060-1070(not sure because price is so mess up right now)

Sudo make me a sandwich

Not true. For rendering/exporting, yes. For everything else, no. That's comparing the I5 to the 1800X.

:)

if Premiere, any modern GPU will do. 1060's a good start

if not premiere, please specify your NLE

(also any other production program you may be using)

if you worry about being able to play certain games then spec to the game

depending on your typical project size you might want to get more RAM (especially if you're doing 20 mins light or 8 mins heavy project)

yes i do use premiere but i also sometimes use hitfilm & da vinci resolve.

thanks for the info

But, I already bought a 1070 and 8700k (overclocked to 5GHz) by cutting costs out of other components and Everything is going pretty well.
