Posted April 6, 2018 I have always been wondering how the LTT community treats their computers. Now that we have SSDs etc. turning off a computer makes sense as it is almost instant to get back into Windows (unlike years ago). I usually turn off my desktop. But that is also because it is a mini-itx hotbox . What about you? Posted April 6, 2018 My CPU is air-cooled and my GPU is water-cooled, dunno if that counts as air or water in this poll. But I shut down when I'm done using it. Posted April 6, 2018 I just shut it down to save power. The home server and networking gear use enough as it is. As you said SSDs really make long boot times a thing of the past and Gigabit broadband makes downloading steam updates rather trivial. It takes a few seconds for the machine to boot up, so I just don't see the point in leaving it on, raising the electric bill and heating the place up unnecessarily. Hand, n.
