Windows 10 ISO download painfully slow

BritScout

Hello all,

Earlier I was advised to install a Windows 10 ISO for my new PC instead of attempting to install Windows 7, however the download through the Windows media tool or whatever it's called is painfully slow, evident in the fact that it's done 15% in 4 hours. I don't have particularly slow internet speeds, I usually get around 10mb/s down.

Many thanks

10mb/s down is slow. If the ISO is 10gb, its going to take a few hours.

To be more specific, 10mbps is actually 1.25 Mega Bytes per second. 10 Gigabytes is around 10,000 Megabytes.

Should take around 8,000 seconds

or 133.3333333333333 minuets

or 2.222222222 hours

Thats if your connection is stable and the download speed is consistent.

The Microsoft servers are often just shitty frankly and you may be better off canceling and trying again and see if you can get a better download speed.

The ISO download size is just under 4gb. However, depending on what mirror you are connected to and the connection between you and it you may run into issues.

The ISO tool isn't particularly great... That speed is pretty ridiculous. You could try to rerun the program but wouldn't suggest it because it won't pick up where the download left off. Also if you are going to download windows 10 anyway, I would suggest saving that ISO to your computer and mounting it to a flash drive to do a fresh install and have it for future use. The only thing worse about downloading windows slowly is having to download it again at some point.

There's no place like ~
