Your GPU should be fine with that CPU. If you feel that you could use more threads though, then grab a used i7 for $200-250.

Well if you're looking for high refresh rate, a 6700k would do wonders.  You can get them for ~$240 US on eBay.  Then sell your 6600k locally.  If you're using a 60hz monitor, it's fine.

I game with a i3 2100 and a r9 280. So mines a bit more unbalanced

ok so a 6600K is 2 yrs old for ~250 on newegg

8th gen i7 is anywhere from 300 to 350 from a quick google search 6 core vs 4 core

ryzen 7 1700 going for about 290 with 8 cores

A little more money for a newer chip i think will go a good ways towards making this better, but overall you're still at a well balanced build so far
