PSU-Antec or.....

I am building a new PC and need a PSU for it. MY total budget is 45K INR(690 USD). Build link is: https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/ksVTHh I found the Antec VP450P 450W Power Supply and Antec VP500PC 500W PSU having good reviews and a above aveage price.Please also suggest any other PSU..EVGA is not cheap at all(So do not suggest EVGA,unless if it fits).

I generally despise Antec PSUs. I have never had one without problems--and one of them took out two motherboards and an i7-4790K before I figured it out.

 

The Corsair CX and CXM power supplies are the best budget ones out there. There's really nothing else in the sub-$50 market that can touch them.

It's a pretty good unit, I've not heard of any problems with it.

It's an excellent unit. Very reliable, surprisingly high-quality.

No, it is not. Not explosion-risk bad, but you could do much better for the price.

Some antecs are good, I believe some are seasonic.

The antec earthwatts 500 I got on eBay for $15 is 80+ bronze, and works fine, after you get past the green paint job

Get the CX if you can at all.

The CX450M  is good, the CX450 is probably not a good value (price for performance and warranty).. CX450 is made by Great Wall, CX450M is CWT design ... see here who makes the psus for corsair: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm

VP450P would be made by FSP which is an OK OEM but most likely will be using crap capacitors (capxon, asiax etc) and a short warranty and it's rated for only 360w on 12v (which is what a modern 400w would be capable of). I wouldn't buy it - if you use pc for a lot of hours each day and you live in a country like India with higher humidity and temperature, I don't see those crappy capacitors last more than 2-3 years.

 

The VP500PC made by CWT would be slightly better, probably construction wise a bit better than the regular CX450

Yeah, it was an experiment with the CX series, they produced that series at both Great Wall and CWT at same time... see thread here: http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14129&highlight=great+wall&page=2

 

I think the reasoning was the series was very sought after by system builders and companies assembling computers for customers so they wanted to double source it for redundancy and volume of production.

 

I don't know if they keep making the plain CX series.
