an i5-7400 has a MRSP of $182. No it not a fake. It has a bogus normal price heavily discounted to seem appealing or something.

You're getting them because it was automatically selected because of the huge discount on the fake price, which is exactly what it was meant to do. Smart seller.

Should never be looking at the claimed discount anyways, no matter where you're buying, and only make your purchase-decision based on the actual, final price. Discounts are mentioned only to fool you into thinking that it's a good deal, but it's just marketing, a psychological trick (that works on most people). If something is a good deal at e.g. $25, it just simply doesn't matter if it was discounted by 1% or by 95%

So did ebay do anything to make their system better? Or is it a bunch of employees lying around doing nothing?

They're likely busy with other things. No one really sits around and does nothing. It's an automated system, and you're angry at the wrong person.

Bitch at the seller, not at eBay.

On another note, you should have known that's no where near what it originally cost. Inform yourself.

Do you have any idea the labor required to check every single listing out there? It would require probably hundreds of thousands of employees. An automated system is infinitely better and more cost effective and delivers the correct result >95% of the time.
