cpu usage at 50%

hi so i bought a new laptop and while doing nothing with it cpu runs at 50%load ( system at 30% system interupts 5-15%) any suggestions for the fix ?

Check backround processes.

If it's one of those craptops for $300 with a Celeron or Pentium, this is pretty normal behavior. My bet is that Windows is updating in the background.

definitely need some system specifics like cpu and brand so that we can figure out if this is just normal under powered cpu or if its like bloatware installed from factory.

Try clean install Windows.

I remember when Win7 was updated to Win10 on a friend's laptop some of the Intel drivers pegged a core.  You should check CPU usage on processes in task manager.

hp omen 15 i5 7300hq (quadcore no ht ) and i did clean install because of this high cpu usage

Check which services are using the CPU. Right click system/system interrupts and select services

Usually windows update or Defender doing a scan in the background

PreWin10 - aka Win7 / 8.1

Windows update can use 2 processes at 25-50% each process.

SVCHOST and Trusted Installer

When Windows update runs,.. both of these processes ruin CPU hungry apps.

 

So it's likely with clean installs it still happens.. cos updates.
