Best PSU for 100$

I own a Ryzen 7 1700 and a 1080 with only a few SSD's and 6 Noctua fans i don't plan on using SLI ever but i love overclocking my question is this what is the best PSU for 100$ 

 

I did the paper clip method and my Corsair RM 750 unit is toast though it is only 3 years old and has a 5 year warranty so i will try that as well. 

 

Anyways i'm currently thinking about this

I'm a fan of EVGA and Corsair but i'm willing to take anything that is built great for 100$.

The EVGA B3 has shotty protections, will die in a puff of smoke when overloaded.

if your RM750 has warranty left then just send it in for an RMA and use what they send back to you, maybe they'll even upgrade it to an RMx if they can't fix it.

I would go with EVGA supernova g2/g3 personally, but as previously mentioned corsair warranty if applicable is preferable.

No worries, BTW you don't need anywhere near 750W for your setup... especially if your focus is gaming, I reckon you'd be hard pushed to get 350W max out of your system, probably a fair bit less even.

Don't buy by brand; EVGA even makes some fire-hazard level PSUs.

 

As @paddy-stone mentioned even 550W would be enough for heavy overclocking. Just assumed you were planning to do SLI.

I ended up ordering EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3 I'm sure I'll be happy with it and it got amazing remarks at JonnyGURU

 

Edit the reason why I go overboard on the power supply is for reduced noise

Higher wattage does not mean lower noise. The 850W version measured 1750RPM and 39dBA at a 340W load, according to Cybenetics. They test at 40°C, so it won't be quite as bad, but something like the RM550x or Whisper M would be significantly quieter.

I have both EVGA and Seasonic power supplies. I have been building computers since 2003. I have no clue what you folks are talking about when it comes to fire hazards. I had a doomed OCZ 700w power supply that I knew was flawed. A design flaw where the power supply lasted only 13-16 months on average. It died in that time span and took none of my components with it. Power supplies are much better today. Corsair has had a great many early failures. Some good performers but their reliability has left much to be desired. EVGA has always been solid in performance and reliability. I do like very much what Seasonic offers. Long history in the PSU market. 

 

OP cannot go wrong with EVGA gold series PSU.

OP cannot go wrong with EVGA gold series PSU. 

EVGA's B3. Second most critical protection is missing. The second you overload it the unit will fail to elect the Pope (go up in a puff of black smoke).

 

EVGA makes several bad for the price Gold units.
