SSD Running Warm?

Psychatog

I purchased an ADATA 64GB SSD and I downloaded HWMonitor and although it was installing windows updates, it was reporting 50-55*C temps.  I felt all over the SSD and it felt cold, is HWMonitor wrong here?

Most likely. The fact that SSDs are enclosed in a metal housing with no attempt to dissapate heat from them would make me think that the temperatures they get to cant damage them anyway.

It's fine up to 70c.

An SSD isn't as fickle as an HDD. That said they consume very little power and for it to be running that warm it must be getting heated from another source or your case has dreadfully poor air flow.

My SSD is cool to the touch 24/7 and yet on software too dumb for SSD, the monitored temp can read something stupid like 129c with a fire icon next to it.

Always rely on your sense of touch vs buggy software/broken sensors.

Hardly fickle at all. They're quite happy being used as basketball replacements by Linus.
