OpenGL 2.0 not supported by HP drivers?

Spork829

A friend of mine just got a new PC, and told me that whenever he opens a specific game (Starbound), he gets a Fatal Exception Caught error that says OpenGL 2.0 not available. He told me he saw somewhere that some sort of HP driver causes this error, but I just can't find any info anywhere. Could anyone help me out here?

If he knows who the manufacturer of the GPU is (if the PC has a graphics card, it's going to be NVIDIA or AMD, otherwise Intel). You can then grab the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website for the GPU he has.

If he needs help trying to figure out what GPU he has:

  • Press Win + R to open the run command
  • Type in dxdiag and press Enter
  • Go to the "Display" tab (if there's more than one, then, Display 1)
  • It should say the name of the GPU in the "Device" section.

I think it has a 1060 or 1070 in it, I didn't realize it was as simple as just a GPU driver. I'll have him install the Nvidia one and see if that works. Thanks!

I'm sure someone's going to mention this.

Run DDU to make sure the old drivers are absolutely uninstalled before installing the new ones.
