I know this is pure preference but I was wondering if there is a best "starter" switch to get used to. I mainly write code and play video games so I do lots of typing. I checked some videos on which keys do what like actuation points and amounts of force to pres them. Do you guys have any suggestion on what switch to start with on my first mechanical keyboard?

Cherry Mx Browns and clears are the closest to rubber dome imo.

Do try some switches out if possible though.

Well a lot of the time you dont have a "Starter" switch. There usually arent adoption pains, I suggest trying out each switch, go to a best buy or microcenter, sometimes they have ones you can try, and decide for yourself.  I prefer blue's personally but everybody has different tastes.

There is no "starter switch" no, but accruing to your preferences I would actually go either Brown or Blue. Both good for typing and video games (Blues ain´t quiet though so no night gaming ;) ) so that is at least my answers :)

It's completely a personal preference so you'd need to try them out and get a feel for yourself, but for someone who does plenty of typing you might like MX Blues due to the excellent audio and tactile feedback they give

I watched some more videos about the difference between the switches and I noticed that you can't really double tap some because you need to let go of the key almost completely. Any of you guys had problems with this or is it barely noticeable?

Get browns if you think you would do more gaming and get blues if you think you would do more typing actually try and get your hands on a test kit and see what keys you like.

i bought that tester and its between brown and red. brown is the better version of blue because its the same without the annoying click, and reds are the same as blacks except they require alot less force to press down. so i havent decided yet if i like the tactile bump or the linear, but its narrowed down to brown vs red

Ya, the best is the one you like when you try it in the store. Switch preference is extremely personal.

Browns are a good balancing point, but Blues aren't that different (actuation force is only 5g more). The click is the only real difference with Blues.

Can you guys recommend me some keyboard with blue switches because I really like the sound of the click. I'd like it to be US-layout with backlight(color doesn't matter).
