If it is stolen then I'm afraid you've being scammed by the seller and obviously the seller was dodgy because he took part in a crime.

Return it to ebay, I don't think anyone will reset it for you. It's a deterrent for stealing the phone - they're not going to make it easy to reverse.

I edit my posts a lot.

I would advise you stop trying to get the phone working and report this to the police.

Thats because there is a database with IMEI numbers of stolen phones. Phones on this list wont be supported. The phone is fucked for life, only the owner of the device could get it unlocked. You also better hope there isnt a police report on this device, or else you could be held accountable for having stolen property. Id either give the phone to your local police department and say you bought it online, not knowing it was stolen, or throw the device in the trash.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Any chance of getting a refund from Ebay? If the listing explicitly states iCloud locked, I find it doubtful that a refund would be possible (anyone buying a locked, likely stolen phone is probably doing so for parts anyway).

Even if it was fixable T-Mobile claimed this phone was stolen so if you did get it working you'd be taking part in a crime and if the police found out they'd arrest you and send you in for questioning.

Unfortunate as it is, this may end up being a "lesson learned" moment. You can probably contest the charge through your CC, though depending on the amount, may not be worth having on record.

I would either try to return it to the seller for a refund, or cut the losses and turn-in/get rid of the phone. As it stands, that phone poses a (however slight the probability of anything occurring) liability to you.

@aries757

At the end of the day this is what the seller wanted, he wanted someone to buy the stolen phone so they don't get the blame and you do because you are the current holder of the phone and it makes it look like you did the robbery and even though you could produce 100% genuine evidence stating you didn't take part in the robbery the police would still send you behind the bars because you had the phone. These criminals are very clever and try everything to get genuine people behind bars for crimes they didn't even take part in, maybe you should be more careful next time.
