Thermalright Macho rev. B height without fan ?

EOZ

Hi, LinusTechTips forum!

I know that this CPU cooler height with instaled fan is 162mm in hight but my qestion is how hight these cooler are without fan instaled ? Maybe someone who uses this cooler can measure the hight without a fan ?

I asking this question because i accidentally ordered computer case that's 1mm thiner than CPU cooler. If CPU fan is longer than actual copper heatpipes on cooler than i have a good chance that this cpu cooler will fit in to my computer case.

Judging by the images heatpipes extend as far as the fan:

Depending on how you mount the fan it could be either taller or shorter. You can generally manipulate those little metal clips to your will to make it fit.

1mm is very small amount of space. From this angle is very hard to tell if actual fan is longer or shorter than copper heatpipes.

I found 2 things:

  1. NZXT s340 also has 161mm space for cpu cooler and this guy put macho rev A (162mm) in it without any problems (look at the comments)
  2. Gladius m45w also has 161mm space for a cpu cooler and I found this photo maxresdefault.jpg

Sooo it looks like it would fit but I couldn't find anyone with your case and macho rev b :(

Well SilentiumPC is polish company so it's only popular in Poland but I also foud this if you understand polish ;) http://chlodzenie.net/reviews/silentiumpc-gladius-m45w-pure-black-nowoczesne-midi-z-oknem-na-swiat/6/

I basically just says that macho rev b fits without any problems (Gladius m45w is just a newer model but it has the same space for cpu cooler)

Edit: Just be carefull when you put side panel on. Do it really slowly and when you see it doesn't fit do not try to close it.

I translated it in google translate and seems to be it will fit thank you again! :)

We verified the compatibility with two CPU coolers from the "Thermalright" stall: HR-02 Macho rev. B (about 161 mm high) and Silver Arrow IB-E (about 163 mm high). While with the model HR-02 Macho rev. B Z there were no problems with closing the side panel, but the Silver Arrow IB-E is too much for such a case (plexiglass from the side panel quite tightly pressed the ends of heat-pipes). Well, in the case of these two constructions, these 2 mm really do make a big difference

Maybe you are using some SilentiumPC cases ? I'm watching you are from Poland... :) I need to know how good this brand is in terms of case quality...

My brother is using Gladius M35W (same as you :) ) and I have their Spartan Pro 3 CPU cooler. This case looks really good and it's really easy to manage cables in it. Air flow is also fine.

Their products are decent quality and really cheap compered to others like Noctua/Thermalright/Fractal Design etc. They are not the best but it will be very hard to find something with this price/performance ratio.

Also they really improved their products in past few years. When they started their products were pretty bad but now I can't really complain about anything ;)
