How's the spec's, do I have anything to be concerned about when it comes to gaming?

Meeflak

Hey all! So I finished my build, it's

i5 7600k

16Gb ddr4 , crucial

Evga SSC Gtx 1060 6gb

250GB Samsung 960 m.2drive for boot drive/ gw2

1tb 2.5" SSD for Mass storage

MSI tomahawk h270 motherboard

This should be more then sufficient for 1080p gaming at Max settings on most games ? If there's anything wrong with my parts list please let me know! It seems to be running okay so far, I just want to make sure

Edit: added part list

If you're only gaming (and general use), there's no point in spending more on an NVMe drive for booting/OS use or certain games. It makes basically no real world difference for those uses.

With a K SKU CPU, you should really be going with a Z270 board so you can overclock it.

What PSU are you using? It's not something you want to skimp on.

don't get a 7600k, go with a ryzen 1600 or i5 8400 instead. don't need an NVME drive for gaming, a crucial MX500 is more than fast enough. what's your country and budget?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

If I have no intention on overclocking should I still get a z270 board?

then i'd look for a used locked skylake/kaylake i5, get a 1tb hdd instead of ssd and a better gpu.

Alright, is the 7600 just not cutting it for gaming ? Without overclocking does it underpreform compared to your recommendations? Or is it simply because my board doesn't support OC

Ryzen 5 1600 beats it

It falls behind in most CPU intensive tasks

frame drops are bad i guess

even with overclocking i wouldn't buy it

I seriously think that u cheaped out on motherboard...

U r using an unlocked CPU ...so get urself a decent overclockng board...the z270 ones in ur case

Also....instead of getting 1tb ssb...get 2tb Seagate firecuda...it is an sshd...it's performance is very close to that of an SSD nd u can save urself a few bucks.

I passed in the z270 because I don't plan on overclocking, I guess I didn't need to go with the K CPU then, but my cpu is my biggest concern and I'm willing to fix it. The build overall is fine for 1080p gaming though, right? Assuming I don't want to go with overclocking, and keeping my board, what would be your recommendation for improving the build. As far as I can tell, and from what I gathered, the Motherboard is good except the fact it can't OC

Well...as in general...I rarely suggest MSI boards as the HV low quality capacitors nd VRMs

Go fr some gigabyte or Asus built board

Also if u don't wanna overclock...then go with the i5 8400

Also I suggest u to ditch those SSDs nd get something like an SSHD... it'll save u a lot of bucks...also SSHD provide better speeds than a traditional HDD.

U can swap in a decent used gpu like GTX 970,980,780ti which will outperform the 1060 nd give better price to performance

Also I had opted fr ryzen 2400g because it has a strong igpu..u can run any game at 1080p low-medium graphics using only it's integrated graphics.

Moreover u can even opt fr a better ryzen CPU.

Peace✌

What's the reasoning on the 8400? From what I could find online it doesn't seem to offer a preformance boost compared to the 7600 k. I guess I just don't understand what I would be gaining with making that switch

A 6gb 1060 will hold me over just fine for now right? I got it heavily discounted through work so I picked it up to hold me over until the market settles and I can. Afford a 1070ti or even a Volta card if they're reasonably priced

In older games that use four or less cores it's true that i5-8400 performance is no better than a stock i5-7600K. However, in newer games that can use more cores, the i5-8400 is on par with a stock i7-7700K.

Since you have already acquired the system, this makes no difference. It certainly isn't worth the cost of replacing a cpu and motherboard. When you are ready to upgrade you might consider initiating a discussion before purchasing.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
