whats the differnce between custom loop and fluid gaming?

question is in the title.  But seriously, i have a friend that is looking to liquid cool his pc and i may wana do it in the near future.  When we priced it out using ek''s configuator it wasnt cheap.  Then we looked at the fluid gaming lineup and saw for the same raditor sizes and fluid, it was much cheaper.  So what are we really giving up from a custom loop?  Astectics of course but is there really anything else?  All the videos we have seen on the fluid gaming lineup say its amazing for the price so

They are still custom loops, "fluid gaming" is just branding.

 

The kits just come with all the parts you need to build a custom loop, they are cheaper because they are budget quality.

 

As compared to their high tier kits you're going to get a weaker pump, smaller res, thinner aluminum radiator.

If I'm not mistaken the Fluid Gaming lineup uses aluminum rads which cut quite a bit of cost, but you also have to be more careful choosing blocks/fittings if you decide to upgrade later on and be a bit more proactive with additives in the event you mix metals (aluminum + copper = no bueno).

they are basically the same, but the fluid gaming lineup is all aluminum parts. so you need aluminum parts if you ever want to extend the loop.

aluminum is a lot cheaper to manufacture, but also much easier to damage

Doesn't Copper have a superior heat transfer?  Do they have to make the aluminum radiators thinner then copper to make them equivalent in heat transfer?

In the long run, go and build your own. The reason why it's more expensive is because you are buying nickel or copper or brass parts. These conduct heat better than aluminum and are much easier to upgrade in the future with the wide variety of parts available.

The fluid gaming kit is useless. Heavily limited to it's own fittings and blocks.

 

>Can't use angled connectors

>Can't use monoblocks

>Can't do proper expansion

 

Overpriced aluminium garbage that gets outdone by the legacy copper EK kits. It's cheaper to buy a S240 than it is to get an A240G.

 

Watercooling isn't cheap since it's mostly reserved for enthusiasts. Nothing that's expensive in computing is for normies (HCC processors, Titans, Multi GPU).

 

Good looking loop that keeps things chilly and allows for much higher OC than what air can allow.

 

Just do it properly if you're going to do it at all.
