Suggested psu wattage

xFluing

So generally what does it mean when a gpu manufacturer tells you this? Does it mean you need 500watts JUST for the gpu? (Now that im saying this it sounds dumb) or 500w to run everything including gpu? The site also states it draws 225w (I think I answered my own question) would I be able to run it with a tx550 80+ gold?

What's your specific set up? A 550 watt PSU is enough for near enough all single GPU systems.

The recommended wattage are for a whole system + whichever GPU spec page you're on, and they normally over-estimate by around 100-150 watts (so they can't be blamed if you buy too weak of a PSU)

PC - CPU Ryzen 5 1600 - GPU Power Color Radeon 5700XT- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming - RAM 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB - Storage 525GB Crucial MX300 SSD + 120GB Kingston SSD   PSU Corsair CX750M - Cooling Stock - Case White NZXT S340

Peripherals - Mouse Logitech G502 Wireless - Keyboard Logitech G915 TKL  Headset Razer Kraken Pro V2's - Displays 2x Acer 24" GF246(1080p, 75hz, Freesync) Steering Wheel & Pedals Logitech G29 & Shifter

What is the full system specs? Also do not trust suggestions they always exxagerate. Use actual datas of PSU power usage from benchmarks.

SPECS: Intel Core i5-4460 // PowerColor Red Dragon RX 480 4GB // 1x8GB DDR3 RAM // Delta 500AB-6A PSU // HyperX Cloud Stinger / Logitech G710+ / Logitech G502 / Xbox One Halo Guardian controller // LG 24M45H 1080p //

System specs? Otherwise I wouldn't completely trust the PSU calculators online, I would make sure you give your PC some head room. Meaning, if it's suggesting a 500W unit, maybe go for a 650W just to be on the safe side.

That would be overkill since calculators already add some wattage on top

I have an athlon x4 860k, 4gb ddr3 ram (forgot which speeds) 3 case fans, and a 120mm cpu fan

Even if you were to stick a Titan XP in there, 550 watt is enough :P

Will it be enough for when i inevitably upgrade to ryzen?

Depends which chip you decide to go for.

Also depends on the GPU which you've not yet said :P but more than likely it'll be enough.

Sapphire Nitro R9 380.

Might go for a ryzen 3, or a ryzen 5 if it drops in price enough

Yeah definitely enough then mate.

Even my 1600 when OC'd to 3.8Ghz only pulls(according to HWMonitor) 95-100Watts when at 100% on all cores. Add that to the max draw of your GPU when under load which is about 225-250 watts, you'll have more than enough.

You'll most likely never be at 100% usage on both CPU and GPU, so won't even be close to your theoretical max system usage.
