dual monitor with gtx 1070, what monitor to buy and will i see performance decrease.

Acrain7

so im looking at buying a smaller secondary monitor (i have a 4k 27" right now) and just have a few questions, as well as a few criterias:

criteria:

- montior needs to be at least 1920 x 1080, hopefully around and smaller than 21". (NOT VGA)

- cheap?

questions:

- will i see any performace decreases with this setup? (assuming monitor is as described) - ANSWERED!

- what monitor do you guys suggest?

MY SETUP:

i7 6700k

gtx 1070 EVGA hybrid FTW 8gb

(storage doesn't matter)

550W PSU

32GB DDR4 Ram

21 inch monitors are rare. Why not have another 27 inch? 1080p 144hz? Might I ask why you are so specific about it being 21 inch? If you are looking for pixel density, a 27 inch 1440p is still more dense.

performance decrease should be nothing noticeable maybe an fps or two.

does this one work? https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS229H-P-21-5-1920x1080-Monitor/dp/B005S0XYKK

That one has a 10ms latency. Idk if I would buy it. Its also pretty dang expensive for what it is, its 120 dollars

Performance won't matter

Just sort the part picker by 1080p IPS and pick one, or head to a local thrift store
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#r=192001080&p=1&sort=price&page=1

Also do you actually need 32GBs of RAM? Because you can probably get about $150 for half of your RAM, and then just buy another 4k IPS display at near $300

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

IMO max u need is 8 - 12GB depending on what you do. Only extreme tasks require more than 12 imo. Heck one of my machines has only 4gb ram and a core 2 duo and it runs beautifully as a home server.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

because i've done some measuring, and i cant fit a 27" easily on my desk, due to a lack of depth... i mean, i suppose i could if i move some things around, but i figured it would be easier (and cheaper) to buy a smaller monitor...

as for the ram, i have a lot of tabs, and quite frankly at the time of purchase was not too bright!

Have you looked into monitor stands? Perhaps you could use one of those? Not sure how your desk is laid out but its a thought

Well lucky for you RAM has doubled in price, but unless you like 300 tabs or whatever it was in linus's video, should totally sell some of it now.

But ya I'd grab another 4k display instead so you're all symmetrical.

You could also pick up a dual monitor arm in that case

Get a monitor with a standard plug for power, and VESA compatibility

you can just get a DVI to HDMI adapter for this one

Its decent. Monitors are pretty subjective, if you are just wanting one for chrome/discord/youtube then get a cheap one.

You don't need a thread, just like it for like $160 and take like $120-130 maybe

There's this dual arm, but it likely isn't going to be as nice as like Ergotech or something higher end

Having that RAM isn't nearly as cool as having 2 4k displays
